MEALTIME MANAGEMENT

Whether you or your loved one experiences a disability, there are supports available with funding from the National Disability Insurance Scheme (NDIS) which includes meal preparation services.

Consuming a healthy diet with regular, nutrient-packed meals is essential to our well-being and can significantly improve someone’s quality of life. Eating healthy starts with planning and preparation.

Eating a healthy diet is an important part of your overall health to improve your immune system and aids in recovery from certain illnesses.

This is important for people living with a disability who have higher risks of infections and chronic health conditions.

Food and beverages play an important role in overall health and wellbeing. Good dietary choices:

  • Contribute to quality of life

  • Help maintain a healthy body weight

  • Protect against infection

  • Reduce the risk of developing or exacerbating chronic health conditions

For people who are living with a disability, food preparation and serving without assistance can be an extremely daunting, challenging and unsafe task. There is a lot of confusion about what is, and isn’t healthy. It can be overwhelming to try and understand what is best for you.

With Freedom Oz Care’s meal preparation support, we can help you achieve your nutrition goals based on your personal needs.

These may include the following tasks:

  • Constructing meal plans and menus

  • Shopping for ingredients

  • Preparing or assisting with cooking meals

  • Washing up

  • Helping with food storage and organisation

  • Splitting food into daily meals

NDIS funding is to eligible people based on their individual needs.
